Two months after their wedding, newlyweds Jill and Derick Dillard revealed that they are expecting their first child. The two are known for their quick transition from single to courting, courting to engaged, engaged to newlywed, and now newlywed to expectant parents.
Jill and Derick were matched by Jim Bob Duggar, who supported Derick as a prayer partner while Derick was doing humanitarian work in Nepal for two years.
Jill and Derick's first chaperoned Skype conversation took place on August 17th, 2013, and lasted five hours. Jill wanted to learn as much as she could about Derick before becoming emotionally attached, so she went through a three-page list of questions about his character, morals, values, and future plans.
In November 2013, Jim Bob accompanied Jill on a two-week trip to Nepal to meet her suitor. At the end of the first week, Derick gave Jill a heart necklace and asked her to begin an official courtship. Jill gave an enthusiastic response: "Yeah, that would be awesome. Totally!"
After returning to Arkansas, Jill endured 60 long days apart from Derick. When Derick finally finished his two-year stay in Nepal, the entire Duggar family gathered at the airport to welcome him home. Little did Jill know that Derick had stopped in Israel on the way home and picked out an engagement ring.
Jill and Derick spent January through March 2014 getting to know each other on a deeper level by going on chaperoned dates and spending time with both the Duggars and the Dillards. While Jill was away on the Growing Up Duggar book tour, Derick planned the engagement. On March 29th, while on a walk in the park, Derick got down on one knee and asked Jill to marry him. And she said: "Yes, totally!"
The couple invited 3,000 guests to their June 21st wedding. Approximately 1,500 attended. Just a few weeks after returning from her honeymoon, Jill took one of her mom's pregnancy tests and was shocked to discover that the results were positive. She and Derick excitedly shared the news with both their families and then announced it to the world via PEOPLE Magazine on August 20th, exactly one year and three days after their first Skype conversation. Baby Dilly is due in March 2015.
