Pregnancy, Babies, and Asian Noodles

Jill and Derick Dillard traveled to New York City earlier this week for media appearances. The Dillards chatted with Rebecca Dube from TODAY.com.

Jill, who is due March 24th, has been asking her mom for pregnancy advice. "I'll call her and ask, 'Was this normal for you?'" Jill told TODAY.com.

Michelle recommends Sea-Band wristbands for morning sickness, and she has encouraged Jill to consume proteins every two hours. The mom of 19 is known for carrying almonds in her purse to snack on.

Jill and Derick say they are enrolled in a Bradley birthing class, which Jill's parents, as well as Josh and Anna, have taken in the past.

The couple has been writing down Bible verses to pray over their son. Their favorite is Psalm 22:30-31: "A seed shall serve Him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation. They shall come and shall declare His righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that He hath done this."

"It's humbling, being responsible for another person," Derick told TODAY.

"I really do hope that our son will be like his father and just a man of character," Jill told TODAY. "Derick is like a gentle giant. He's strong in character but gentle and sensitive to the feelings of others."

Jill has experienced pregnancy cravings and morning sickness, which was especially severe during her first trimester. She says she cannot stand the smell of Asian noodles.

"I will not have those for the rest of my pregnancy," Jill told TODAY.

Jill offered a word of advice to expectant mamas: give yourself a break. While suffering from morning sickness, Jill said she felt bad that she could not accomplish much.

"Both my mom and Derick said this is the most important thing you can do right now — you're growing a baby. It's not going to last forever," Jill told TODAY. "I've been able to pass that on to some of my friends who are pregnant: don't feel bad that you're taking a nap, don't feel like you're lazy, because you're doing the most important thing you can right now, and that's to be healthy for your baby."
